Volunteer Recognition Reception
The Capitol Area Council’s Volunteer Recognition Reception and Awards will take place on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 7 pm at Great Hills Baptist Church. The evening will honor the 2006 class of Eagle Scouts and Scouts who have earned national awards for bravery and lifesaving. The highlight of the night will be the presentation of honors to several outstanding volunteers. Some will receive the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award presented for outstanding service to Scouting at the council and/or district level. Others will receive the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award, an honor for individuals or organizations which provide outstanding service to low-income urban and rural youth through Scouting. Also, the council will present the William H. Spurgeon III Award to individuals or groups for outstanding service to young people through the Exploring program. Venturing Leadership Awards will be presented to leaders who have helped grow and develop the Venturing program.
